The Footy Plus One FAQ
What is The Footy Plus One Show
The Footy Plus One Show is the only American hosted program on the Internet concering Aussie Rules.
How did you come up for the name of the show?
I was bored one day when all of the sudden the song "Love Plus One" by Haircut 100 poped into my head. Besides, I couldn't use The Footy Show since that was already taken by Channel 9 in Australia.
How did you come about hosting the show?
Well, I wanted to create an audio show and send it out by e-mail subscription. Rob DeSantos, President of AFANA, had a better idea. He wanted me to host the show on the AFANA site. Without hestitation, I said yes.
What is Take The Mark Productions?
It's my production company that produces The Footy Plus One Show, as well as The Evening Drive (my SonicNet Station). I originally wanted to call it BallzUp, but it sounded too racy.
When did you watch your first grand final?
It was back in 1994. Eagles vs. Cats. I stayed up quite a while to watch the live broadcast from the MCG. This was the night before I had a date with a girl I wish I was still with. But that's another story.
What club do you support?
The West Coast Eagles
What are some of the awards you won?
In 1997, I won a journalism award from Reading Area Community College for my participation on their paper. Yes, I was a print journalist. From October 1996 to December 1997, I had a column called "This Space For Rent". I miss doing it, but life goes on.
Did you play sports in high school?
Yes. I played tennis for Lockhart (TX) High School for 2 years. I disliked many of the players since I thought most of them were too caught up in the cliques to care about tennis. I mainly stayed on my senior year to get my jacket. Since 1992, I have not picked up a tennis racket.
Have you ever had 15 miutes of fame?
Yeah. I had a letter read on a Canadian radio show called "As It Happens", read a poem on the World Wrestling Federation internet program "WWF Byte This", and ended up in Sam Neuman's mailbag in The Footy Show Magazine.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to read comic books. I also love video games. I'm also a big movie freak as well.
What do you listen to on the Internet?
WJJZ-FM in Philly, Capital Gold in London, WGN-AM always has good programming, and anything that can hold my interest.
